Attendance
Success is determined by more than attendance. Music
instruction MUST involve home study between lessons
after level 1.
The
Role of the Parent in Music Study
Although it is not necessary for you to be present at
each weeks lesson you are a VERY important part of the
learning process at home. Parents must supervise
practice and read directions to the student. If you are
a musician this will be second nature, if you are not ,
you too will enjoy learning to play piano with your
child. Most important HAVE FUN !!!!! Praise your child
each and every time he/she sits at the piano.
The
most important thing you can do for your child is give
them your time and be a part of what they are doing.
Some of the benefits of group music instruction are
learning
-
Social Skills
-
Cooperation
-
Self Confidence
-
Concentration
Expectations for practice
Practice should be fun and at
the willingness of your child. Positive encouragement
should be given each time they sit at the keyboard. A practice ‘habit’ is the aim rather than a rigorous
daily 10 minute session.
Level 1 - you can succeed by attendance only !
Have fun and enjoy listening to the CD's
Level 2 and above your child should practice at least 3
times a week berween lessons, to make progress.
